Chemistry is a common yet essential subject to learn in Adelaide. It enables students to understand how matter interacts on an atomic level, and the fundamentals behind chemical reactions. Through studying SACE Chemistry, students can gain an understanding of the theories and concepts behind the subject in order to apply them to real-world situations.
SACE Chemistry covers topics such as structure of atoms and molecules, periodic table, chemical bonding, gases, acids and bases, redox reactions, atomic structure and energy levels, organic chemistry, thermodynamics and environmental chemistry. All of these areas are necessary for developing a comprehensive knowledge of chemistry. Students can also be required to complete practical activities so that they can have hands-on experience with applying their knowledge in a lab environment.
To ensure success in SACE Chemistry for achieving a high ATAR score, it is important for students to begin revising and preparing early on. Starting at least four months before the exams allows enough time for studying the various topics while allowing adequate time for practice papers. It is beneficial to use study techniques such as creating flashcards or mind maps in order to help with memorising key concepts within each topic area. Additionally joining supplementary course classes or group study sessions can be helpful too if available. Becoming familiar with past exam questions will help clarify what needs more focus during revision periods leading up to exams so that you may achieve your desired grade.
